More Easter art as Layout Design Example!

MORE EASTER ART AND A QUESTION

Folks doing a lot of overtime at PT job n no ideas for quickie posts so I hope you don't mind more EASTER ART. It is at least typography and layout related. Lovely example of  double columns with ornament and frame ! Even if you hate Easter scenes it is a gorgeous and beautiful layout too!

Also colors look how they get pale and mid blues to work with browns by also using red!

What can we learn from this to apply to modern web page design?

Will the weird medley of tags  in the labels dialog box backfire?

This is by the Limbourg Bros !

Next time hopefully more bevels
I'm trying to think of  combos I havnt tested yet to share with you !

Easter Ideas Two

Feel free with mess with people's heads with this!

Easter Ideas One

Here's an idea for an #EasterSunday theme #card design

Yes this is NOT hand brushed or inked or watercolor on paper
This was created in #inkscape

Take a stimulated "handwriting" font thicken the the stroke make it the same color as the fill
then in this case apply the rough and glossy filter since I thought it best matched the font
but do try your own font and filter combos!

However if your church does not have anyone who's a calligrapher or typographer and the local graphic designers are all booked up doing weddings or whatever INKSCAPE IS YOUR FRIEND !

WHAT FONT to use for Easter Designs?

Hopefully we've all finished designs for whatever purpose but if you're stuck here's a font sampler with a few ideas !
I've given the name of the Font and an example of a typical Easter related word or phrase

#easter #font #design

drat I've just found Blogger will not display Old English despite Me inserting a png file !

Juice works surprisingly well
Irish Uncial probably needs some color?
Chancery Cursive that seems appropriate needs some kerning adjustments!?
Cardinal was also a pleasant surprise!

anyway hopefully this works as inspiration if only of the
duh I can do better than that sort?

Finding Crosses

FINDING CROSSES

#crosses #designproblems #christianart #easter

So Easter is coming and I'm racking my brain trying to PR my Anzac Easter and other designs on Red Bubble and Cafe Press and and trying to find a shortcut to create an interesting cross design.

So I need a background layer cos I'm thinking of doing a Celtic Cross and I create a sampler file a workspace of plus signs from various fonts thinking it would be a good starting ... like I can use node manipulation to turn the plus sign into a cross and have one solid shape but ...

I surveyed 40 different fonts that included plus signs  and most of them used the same glyphs you see to the left and top of this png !

Even many of the ornamental fonts had no crosses or plain shapes!

Okay so they are plus signs but the letter T t upper or lower case didnt work either  sans serif serif etc?

Back to the drawing pad to do what I should have in the first place do a drawing in pencil scan it and color over it or take the drawing break it up into separate repeatable units I can modify in Inkscape .... why all the bother ?

I want websafe colors and sometimes the colors in paintings  ...

Irk I doubt I'll finish a design suitable for sale but I hope I'll at least have an Easter card for friends and social media!

Meanwhile please enjoy and share Last years #Easter designs up on #CafePress

The Other Cross

The Other Cross

Many of you may have seen the traditional Christian Cross?

But have you seen this?

Unless you've studied Early Christian and Byzantine art you may not be aware that for the first few centuries Chi Rho crosses were depicted as frequently as the t cross we're more familiar with.

Look to the left of the picture. There's a stylized Chi X blended with a Greek Rho. It's not just Irish manuscripts that have Chi Rho crosses.

There is more than one Cross symbol.
