Just a little something I put up for Easter a few years back.

Its a Chi-Ro a symbol for Christ -ch is one letter in Greek and R or Rho looks like a P! 

I may redo this or do a few new ones

 

Italo-Byzantine ChiRho

From the same church as the prior post an example of a #ChiRho #italobyzantine style #mosaic #lettering

I have not cropped this to emphasize the lettering because I want you to be been to see and study how the letters fit into and onto a band of ornament as part of a curved mosaic surface.

It also shows a good color balance in the composition and layout.

Think about how a similar color layout might work in print or on the web for a title or header or poster. I think you might have to strengthen the greens for modern mediumand maybe darken the blue or strengthen it?

You don't have to do a ChiRho ... you can experiment with other letters! Initials maybe?

and if you're better than me at editing nodes and please help other challengers with an improved version. This should work as a drop cap for documents but I suspect some bumps and odd curves will show at a larger size.

CHIRHO CHALLENGE

Lets see if we can create some interesting  typographic art using the #chirho theme and #inkscape or #gimp or your digital software preference. Tag it #chirho or #chirhochallenge on Twitter FB Google plus or anywhere.

Look up ChiRho first.

Now you do not have to use Greek letters or Celtic Uncials unless you want to but please use a C or a Greek Chi x a H and an R or Rho?

I like the letter combo of the C and H  but that R needs work! Maybe darker or a different font? 

Back to the svg stage in Inkscape . I'll show you the next version in a few days!
