#Magneto #font #sampler #typography

November last year I HAD to get a new computer and it came with a few new fonts pre-installed.

Magneto was one of them. I like the look of the UPPER case but I think with this font you would have to work with it either all upper case or all lower depending on the text. Probably a good font for Posters or LARGE LOGOS? However large bold letter forms do have certain advantages for what I call typographic art  so watch for experiments !

Iron Man 3 oh those robots

What I'm reviewing a movie?

Why?

Well if you love good design and robots fess up how many of us watched the Iron man movies just for those robotic armor suits?

Plus the Iron Man series actually manages to depict the design process from initial concept to finished product and gives you some idea of the work and stress involved whether you have access to an array of high tech or whatever you can scavenge from a junk yard spare parts a garage or a hardware store.

Go on watch it! you know you love those suits!
 and the SFX too!

oh an done semi spoiler you'll work out why Ben Kingsley was willing to play the Mandarin when you meet TREVOR!

The popularity of Gothic Scripts typefaces and fonts has shifted over the centuries.

Originally invented by scribes and then condemned as barbaric hence the name Gothic then revived in the 19th century certain political events reduced their popularity but they survive.

Here's a image of several variants!

and a image contrasting the letter shapes with Italic forms.

More next time!

Paul Felton's TEN (Anti) Commandments

It is possible to write a funny critique of typography!

Have you seen this book by Paul Felton

?

Yes this is the same book not 2.

One side has the "Ten commandments of Typography" for Students and Designers but the other side has Felton  being joyously irreverent about guidelines for typography.

This is a must read! Really! Do make an effort to borrow or buy it!
