The Romans were keen on public inscriptions and the Augustan era saw a building boom which left lots of them to study. Some recorded information others were propaganda.

Here are 3 examples to study which mention Augustus. The V was used for both U and V.






Which modern fonts were inspired or developed from these?

Did some master scribe carefully do a layout on papyrus or parchment for the masons to copy?
